Patrol Division

The purpose of the Patrol Division is to prevent and deter criminal activity operations and to provide day-to-day police service to the Jefferson City community. Because the scope of this work is so massive, we use a variety police cruisers, motorcycles, and other vehicles to respond to calls.

The Patrol Division is responsible for maintaining order and solving problems in the community, which means these officers must be knowledgeable and proficient in a variety of subject areas and tasks. Uniformed officers are highly trained in recognizing both neighborhood concerns and criminal activity. These officers are the most visible symbols of city service that make up the foundations on which other police services are delivered.

Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division performs the investigative functions of the Jefferson City Police Department. Members of this Division respond to crime scenes, answer citizen complaints, and investigate cases from the Patrol Division. The Division conducts interviews and lawful searches during investigations to gather information and evidence that is useful for reconstructing the occurrence or circumstances of an illegal act. Investigators may apprehend offenders, recover stolen property, prepare cases for court prosecutions, and present evidence in court cases.
