The Mayor is an elected official who serves as the chief executive officer for Jefferson City and is responsible for the administration of all city government programs and services. The Mayor strives to serve the citizens of Jefferson City by delivering efficient government service and strengthening the community.

Jefferson City offers stunning sunsets over Cherokee Lake and breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Jefferson City is a Tree City USA community and is known for its beautiful landscapes. On the banks of Mossy Creek, you can catch a glimpse of history, from battlefields of the Civil War to the southern charm of Glenmore Mansion. However, it’s no secret that our greatest asset is our people. Jefferson City is full of friendly faces, traditional values, and neighbors who really care about each other and about the community. Jefferson City is proud to be the home of Carson-Newman University, a world-class educational institution founded on Christian values. You can stroll through the beautiful campus that spans the heart of town or join us on fall Saturdays as the Eagles play host to the best NCAA Division II teams of the nation. Jefferson City is also a regional hub for healthcare. Tennova Jefferson Memorial Hospital serves multiple counties throughout our rural East Tennessee region. In addition to one of the nation’s best hospitals, we also have great facilities for skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care. We are proud to be the home of the 190th Engineer Company of the Tennessee Army National Guard and strongly support the men and women who serve and defend our country. Economically, Jefferson City is the home of Oshkosh Corporation, Masonite-Algoma, Matsuo Industries USA, and Nashua Corporation. With a robust industrial base and strong retail business, Jefferson City is the economic center of Jefferson County and plays a significant role in the Lakeway Region.
 
Jefferson City maintains a modern state-of-the-art City Center Complex, which contains our City Hall, fire department, police department, and city library facilities. Recent upgrades to the city’s water and wastewater distribution facilities provide the infrastructure base to meet the needs of a growing community. We are committed to street paving, beautification efforts, and the revitalization of our downtown district. Jefferson City offers many recreational facilities, including a community center, walking paths, bicycle trails, ball fields, public swimming pools, and delightful parks. Jefferson City is a pet-friendly community.
